how AI credits work

Every time you ask Alana to generate or enhance product content, you use one AI credit. For example:
  • Generating a product title = 1 credit
  • Enhancing a description = 1 credit
  • Generating bullet points = 1 credit
  • Regenerating a suggestion = 1 credit
Your Alana plan includes a monthly allotment of credits. When you run out, you can’t generate new content until:
  • Your credits reset next month, or
  • You upgrade to a plan with more credits, or
  • You purchase additional credits

credits by plan

Your available credits depend on your current plan:

Pro500Yes, on the 1stIncluded in renewal
EnterpriseUnlimitedN/AN/A
Free plan note: After you use your 50 monthly credits, you can upgrade to Pro (or Enterprise) anytime to get more. You can also purchase a credit pack (typically 100 credits for $9.99). Pro plan note: If you need more credits mid-month, you can purchase credit packs on top of your monthly allotment. Enterprise plan note: If you need unlimited generations, contact sales. Custom pricing and support available.

check your remaining credits

view your usage in workspace settings

  1. Go to Workspace Settings (gear icon, usually top-right)
  2. Navigate to Billing or Usage
  3. You’ll see:
    • Your current plan
    • Credits remaining this month
    • Total credits used this month
    • Reset date (when your monthly allotment refreshes)

view usage in the generate dialog

When you click “Generate” on any field, you’ll see:
  • Your current plan displayed
  • Credits remaining for this month
  • Option to upgrade if you’re low

what happens when you run out

When credits reach 0:
  • You can no longer click “Generate” or “Enhance”
  • The generate button will appear dimmed or disabled
  • You’ll see a message: “You’ve used all your monthly credits”
Your options:
  1. Wait for your credits to reset next month (see reset date in billing settings)
  2. Upgrade to a plan with more credits (pro-rated pricing applies)
  3. Purchase a one-time credit pack to keep generating now

purchasing additional credits

credit packs

Available through your Workspace Settings > Billing > Purchase Credits:
  • 100 credits — $9.99 (one-time purchase)
  • 500 credits — $39.99 (one-time purchase)
  • 1,000 credits — $69.99 (one-time purchase)
These are one-time purchases that don’t expire. Use them whenever you need.

upgrading your plan

If you’re consistently running out of credits, upgrading to Pro or Enterprise might make more sense than buying credit packs: Free → Pro upgrade:
  • 450 additional monthly credits (50 → 500)
  • Usually $29–49/month depending on features included
  • Prorated if you upgrade mid-month
Pro → Enterprise upgrade:
  • Unlimited AI generations
  • Custom pricing, dedicated support
  • Contact sales for a quote

estimating your needs

Quick math to figure out if you need more credits:
  • If you have 100 products and regenerate each one 3 times = ~300 credits
  • If you generate AI content daily and use 10 credits/day = ~300 credits/month
  • If you’re running A/B tests and generating 5 versions of each title = much more!
Free plan (50 credits) works for:
  • Small product catalogs (< 20 products)
  • Occasional content generation
  • Testing out Alana’s AI
Pro plan (500 credits) works for:
  • Medium catalogs (20–200 products)
  • Regular AI content generation
  • A/B testing and optimization
Enterprise (unlimited) works for:
  • Large catalogs (200+ products)
  • Heavy daily use
  • Agencies or high-volume sellers

regenerating doesn’t cost extra

Here’s good news: Regenerating a suggestion doesn’t use an additional credit. When you click “Regenerate” on an AI suggestion, you’re not using a new credit — you’re using a free alternative version of the same generation. Only the first generation (or enhancement) costs 1 credit.

tips to stretch your credits

1. fill in product details first

The more information you provide, the better Alana’s first suggestion. You’ll need fewer regenerations.

2. batch similar work

If you’re generating titles for 10 products, do all 10 in one session. You’ll notice patterns in what works for your brand, so later suggestions might require fewer edits.

3. use “enhance existing” strategically

If you have draft text you’re happy with, use “Enhance existing” instead of “Generate new.” It usually requires fewer regenerations.

4. save your brand settings

A well-configured brand voice means smarter suggestions on the first try. Invest time in setting up your brand guidelines and you’ll use fewer regenerations.

5. regenerate selectively

You don’t need the perfect suggestion every time. If a suggestion is 80% good, accept it and move on. Save regenerations for cases where it’s really off.

FAQ

Q: Do my credits carry over if I don’t use them? A: It depends on your plan:
  • Free plan: Credits reset monthly. Unused credits don’t carry over.
  • Pro plan: Credits reset monthly. Unused credits don’t carry over.
  • Credit packs: These don’t expire. They’re used whenever you run out of monthly credits.
Q: What if I upgrade mid-month? A: You’ll be prorated. If you upgrade on day 15 of a 30-day month, you’ll get 50% of the new plan’s monthly allotment immediately, plus your unused credits from your old plan. Q: Can I buy credits for someone else on my team? A: If you’re on a team plan or Enterprise, all credits are pooled at the workspace level. Anyone in the workspace shares the monthly allotment. Q: Do I get a refund if I don’t use my credits? A: No. Monthly credits are use-it-or-lose-it (they reset each month). But credit packs never expire — use them anytime.
