what are optimization scores?

Every product in Alana gets a quality score. This score measures how complete, optimized, and brand-aligned your product content is. Scores range from 0 to 100:
  • 0–40 — Red 🔴 (needs work)
  • 41–70 — Yellow 🟡 (good, but room to improve)
  • 71–100 — Green 🟢 (excellent)
The score is calculated across four dimensions:

the four score dimensions

1. completeness

Does your product have all the essential information? What it measures:
  • Title present and filled in
  • Description present and filled in
  • At least 3 bullet points or features listed
  • Category and subcategory assigned
  • Price filled in
  • High-quality product image uploaded
Why it matters: Incomplete product information confuses customers and hurts SEO. Search engines prefer detailed, complete product pages. How to improve: Fill in all the fields on your product page. Even if some are optional, completing them helps your score and helps customers.

2. SEO quality

How well is your content optimized for search engines? What it measures:
  • Relevant keywords naturally present in title and description
  • Meta description filled in and optimized
  • Heading hierarchy is correct
  • URL slug is SEO-friendly
  • Internal links present (if applicable)
  • Alt text on images
Why it matters: Better SEO means your products show up in search results. That brings more potential customers. How to improve:
  • Use your target keywords naturally in the title and description
  • Fill in the meta description (the snippet that shows in search results)
  • Make sure product images have descriptive alt text

3. brand alignment

Does your content sound like your brand? What it measures:
  • Content uses your brand’s tone and voice
  • Key brand values are reflected (if applicable)
  • Terminology matches your brand guidelines
  • No generic or cliché language
  • Audience is the right fit for your brand
Why it matters: Consistent brand voice builds trust and recognition. Customers get a clear sense of who you are. How to improve:
  • Make sure your brand voice and tone settings are fully configured
  • Review AI-generated content and edit it to feel more authentically you
  • Avoid generic product descriptions — personalize them

4. readability

Is your content easy for humans to read and understand? What it measures:
  • Sentence length is varied (not all long, not all short)
  • Paragraphs are short enough to scan
  • Technical jargon is explained or minimal
  • Clear structure (headings, bullet points, etc.)
  • Language is accessible to your target audience
  • No run-on sentences or confusing phrasing
Why it matters: If customers can’t quickly understand what you’re selling and why, they’ll leave. Readability keeps them engaged. How to improve:
  • Use short, punchy sentences
  • Break up long descriptions with bullet points
  • Avoid overly technical language unless your audience is technical
  • When Alana generates content, it usually optimizes for readability already

the AI can help you improve

When you generate AI content, Alana already considers these four dimensions:
  • It fills in missing content (improves completeness)
  • It naturally includes SEO-relevant keywords (improves SEO quality)
  • It uses your brand voice (improves brand alignment)
  • It writes in a clear, scannable style (improves readability)
If a score is low, generating AI content for that field often helps significantly.

can I ignore low scores?

Your scores are guidance, not requirements. If a product has a red completeness score but you’ve intentionally kept it minimal, that’s your choice. However, products with higher scores typically:
  • Perform better in search results
  • Convert better (customers have more info to make decisions)
  • Build more trust
  • Stand out from competitors
Aim for green 🟢 scores, especially for your best-selling products.
