AI Voice and Tone

This is where the magic happens. Your brand’s voice and tone settings teach our AI how to write like your brand — not like a generic robot. When you configure these settings, every product description, tag, and piece of generated content will sound uniquely yours.

What’s Voice and Tone?

  • Voice — Your brand’s personality. Are you professional? Fun? Minimalist? Luxury? Your voice stays consistent across all content.
  • Tone — How your brand communicates in specific situations. The same brand might use a serious tone for safety specs but a friendly tone for product tips.

Accessing AI Voice and Tone Settings

  1. Go to Brands in the sidebar
  2. Select your brand
  3. Click SettingsAI Voice and Tone (or a similar section for AI configuration)

Configuring Your Voice

Step 1: Choose Your Brand Personality

Select adjectives that describe how your brand communicates:
  • Professional & Authoritative
  • Friendly & Approachable
  • Casual & Trendy
  • Luxury & Sophisticated
  • Technical & Detailed
  • Simple & Minimalist
  • Playful & Fun
You can usually select multiple options. The AI will blend them to create a unique voice. Example: A sustainable fashion brand might choose “Friendly & Approachable” + “Minimalist” to sound approachable but not fluff.

Step 2: Add Keywords to Include

List words, phrases, and concepts your brand always wants to emphasize: Examples:
  • “eco-friendly,” “sustainable,” “zero-waste” (for a green brand)
  • “handcrafted,” “artisan,” “small-batch” (for an artisanal brand)
  • “trusted,” “reliable,” “professional” (for B2B)
The AI will naturally weave these into descriptions and tags.

Step 3: Add Keywords to Exclude

List words or phrases you want the AI to avoid: Examples:
  • “cheap” (if you’re premium)
  • “artificial,” “synthetic” (if you’re organic/natural)
  • “trendy” (if you’re timeless)
This prevents the AI from using terminology that doesn’t match your brand.

Tone Variations

Some platforms let you configure different tones for different content types:
  • Product Descriptions — Informative and persuasive
  • Social Media — More casual and engaging
  • Technical Specs — Precise and detailed
  • Customer Testimonials — Authentic and relatable
If your platform supports this, set it up so the AI generates appropriate content for each channel.

Content Policies

Define boundaries for what the AI can generate:
  • Target Audience — Who are these products for? (e.g., “parents,” “professionals,” “eco-conscious consumers”)
  • Avoid Marketing Clichés — Tell the AI not to use overused phrases like “game-changer” or “revolutionary”
  • Include Specific Information — Specify what must always be included (e.g., certifications, warranty info, ingredients)
  • Language & Formality — Formal, conversational, or somewhere in between?

Best Practices

Be Specific

Vague guidance confuses the AI. Instead of “sounds good,” say “conversational but professional, like talking to a friend who knows their stuff.”

Test and Iterate

After you configure your settings:
  1. Generate a few product descriptions
  2. Read them and note what works and what doesn’t
  3. Adjust keywords or tone descriptions
  4. Test again
The first version is rarely perfect. Refining your settings is a process.

Keep It Consistent

Your voice should be recognizable across all your content. If you sound like three different brands, your customers will notice.

Use Brand Guidelines

If you have written brand guidelines or a style guide, reference them here. Share phrases, examples, and tone samples with your team.

Example: What a Configured Brand Looks Like

Brand: “Modern Kitchenware Co.”
  • Voice: Professional & Friendly, Simple & Minimalist
  • Include Keywords: “chef-tested,” “beautiful design,” “durable,” “easy to use”
  • Exclude Keywords: “cheap,” “plastic,” “mass-produced”
  • Target Audience: Home cooks and cooking enthusiasts (ages 25-55)
  • Content Policy: Always mention materials used and care instructions
Result: Generated descriptions sound like: “This chef-tested whisk combines beautiful minimalist design with durable stainless steel construction. Easy to clean and built to last decades.”

Testing Your Configuration

  1. Go to the content generation tool
  2. Upload a few sample products
  3. Generate descriptions and tags
  4. Read the output carefully
  5. Ask: “Does this sound like my brand?”
If not, go back to AI Voice and Tone settings and refine.

Tips for Different Industries

Luxury & Premium: Use sophisticated language, emphasize craftsmanship and heritage. Sustainable/Eco: Emphasize impact, materials, and values alignment. B2B Tech: Focus on specifications, integrations, and ROI. Fashion & Lifestyle: Use trendy language, emotion, and aspiration. Health & Wellness: Emphasize quality, safety, and scientific backing.
